After Earth starring Will Smith is all set to scorch the screens on 31st May, 2013. Helmed by ace director M. Night Shyamalan, the movie has been produced and written by Will Smith in association with the director. This will be one of the rare outings where audiences get to see Will and Jaden Smith together again on the silver screen after the overwhelming success of The Pursuit of Happyness.

Synopsis: The movie tells the story of Cypher and Kitai Raige, played by real life father and son Will and Jaden Smith, who are stranded on Earth after a crash landing. With over 100- years passed after humanity escaped the world, they have little choice but to seek for help. With his father Cypher critically injured, Kitai starts his astounding journey where he tries to seek help in the land of no humans. The journey tells the struggle of the father-son duo who strives hard to survive on earth that is now dominated by evolved animals.

Why watch it: Simply because After Earth brings one of the most well established actor of our times with another touted as the next big thing. Jaden Smith is a promising teenager who has already proved his mettle in movies like The Karate Kid, and Will Smith takes his acting mettle in the light of his writing skills. The trailer of the movie shows some visually stunning images, graphics and locations, promising a lot of action and fun for the young and old alike.

Will Smith has mentioned that he got the idea of the movie while watching the series I Shouldn't Be Alive and decided to take the story 1000 years in future. With a striking budget and amazing developments in the story, After Earth should new genre in the science fiction genre. M. Night Shyamalan who is best known for his movie, The Sixth Sense, takes on the director's seat with oozing confidence yet again.

After Earth has been produced by Caleeb Pinkett, Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith and James Lassiter, while the screenplay edits are shared by Gary Whitta and M. Night Shyamalan. Music has been conceived and composed by James Newton Howard. Distributed by Columbia Pictures, the movie is all set for a release on 31st May, 2013.
